Who We Are

No experience or diploma needed; we will provide all necessary training.

Grow & Give

Every Meal’s Grow & Give initiative brings together produce from our garden, community garden partners, farmer’s markets, and you! Each week, the collected produce is distributed to children and families in our community throughout the growing season.

In partnership with Ramsey County, Every Meal has converted approximately 4,000 sq. ft of county land right at our facility into a produce garden. As part of our summer programs, this seasonal produce initiative significantly expands the amount of produce we are able to provide to children and families who need it.

Our growing produce garden partnerships include Dangerous Man and Surly breweries and New Life Presbyterian Church.

What We Do

Grow & Give Events

Garden Related Opportunities

Each day in the garden is different with varying needs as the season progresses. In the spring, help us prepare our garden plots for the growing season, summer, help us weed and maintain our gardens, and in the fall, help us put our gardens to bed for the winter. Common tasks may include one or more of the following; laying and spreading mulch, adding fresh soil/compost to the beds, planting, harvesting, turning compost, watering, weeding, and pest management.

Please note this position is labor intensive and will require moderate physical activity. Ability and willingness to work outdoors (at times in inclement weather) and lift up to 30 lbs. is required.

What to wear: Please dress appropriately for outdoor work - clothing you won't mind getting dirty. Close-toed shoes are required.

Harvesting and Maintenance

From approximately 9am-11am volunteers will harvest produce from our garden which is on site at our warehouse in Roseville. This is led by our garden associate. If time the volunteers will also help with weeding and garden maintenance. We provide gloves and tools for use on the harvesting but recommend bringing a water bottle and hat/sunscreen. (2-4 volunteers needed)

Packing

From approximately 1pm-3pm volunteers pack the produce from our garden, two community gardens, and any produce donated by members of the community. We start by organizing all of the produce into like piles or containers, and then pack the produce into tote bags trying to make each tote bag as similar as possible. We will finish by cleaning all of the crates the produce was in, cleaning the tables we used, and sweeping the floor. (4-8 volunteers needed)

Due to the garden being outdoors Every Meal may have to cancel harvesting events within 24 hours notice due to inclement weather. We will contact volunteers via email and may attempt to contact via phone as well.
